Getting Started

This section helps new users get started with the readout software. This section describes:

• How to obtain a copy of the files you will need to tailor the readout software to your experiment (Described in Obtaining the Readout skeleton).
• How to modify this skeleton to meet the needs of your experiment (Described in Modifying the Readout Skeleton).
• How to add scaler readout to your skeleton (described in Setting up scaler readout
• How to compile a tailored version of the readout software once you have finished your modifications (Described in Compiling your Readout software).
• How to set up your trigger electronics and the computer busy lockout (Described in: Setting up the electronics
• How to run the readout program you have built. (Described in : Running your readout software).

These sections roughly reflect order in which you should do things with the Readout software.

Throughout this document we'll follow the conventions:

• The software is installed relative to an environment variable: DAQROOT
• Things typed by the computer will be italicized
• Things you must type will be in bold.
